Join
the Tokon Tigers!
- Children aged 5-11 can join the Tokon Tigers
club. The emphasis is on fun based lessons, that not only help
children avoid dangerous situations, but also to get fit and
work on focus and concentration.
- We have developed our own reward based system,
which encourages each child to try their best within their lessons,
and also adds to the fun experience.
- It may seem a bit scary at first, and there
is a lot to learn, but each child is gently guided at their
own pace to achieve the best of their ability. We can even work
in partnership with the parents to ensure that their good behaviour
continues at home and school!

Benefits of joining the Tokon Tigers:
|
Self Defence
We teach Tokon Tigers self-defence,
which has been adapted to suit their needs. The children learn
how to avoid dangerous situations and how to deal with all sorts
of attacks. It is also explained that the techniques we use are
only to be used in self-defence, and should never be used in an
offensive manner, or within the home or school playground. We
aim to build confidence and awareness so that children do not
become victims of bullies; we also teach responsibilty so that
the children do not become bullies themselves.

Physical Fitness
With Tokonkai Karate your child
can enjoy regular exercise in a friendly and encouraging environment.
Karate can also help improve a child’s co-ordination and
flexibility. We are aware that a child’s body is still growing,
and therefore their training is tailored so that there are no
exercises which would be dangerous to their physical development.
We are constantly researching modern methods of training, to make
sure that we are using the most up to date methods available.
All lessons are started with a warm up and stretch.
Self-Confidence, Self Discipline,
Respect.
Incorporated into our training
is a striving towards positive personal attributes such as discipline,
self control, patience, confidence and respect. The grading system
we use is a great tool for encouraging goal-driven achievements
and improving self-confidence. In addition, in Tokon tigers we
have developed a new rewards based system to encourage the children
to try their best in every lesson. As our students develop we
see a growing sense of responsibility both for themselves, and
for their junior students. We also explain the importance of respect
being shown to parents and teachers. |

Issues
Karate is a great way to help
your child build respect, both for themselves and for the people
around them. Our system actively rewards good behaviour. The grading
system encourages focus, as each child strives to attain their
next grade. All our belts are earned through hard work, both physically
and mentally, so when your child receives their next grade they
will have gained something they can be truly proud of. We are
proud to report that parents of our students have reported an
increase in concentration at home, and within school.
Fun Activity
As well as the positive physical
and mental attributes it is important that our students have fun
whilst training. We structure our Tokon Tigers programme so that
it is an enjoyable activity, with the added benefit that it gets
children away from the television and computers and doing something
more constructive whilst still having fun! Karate is a great way
to socialise, and there have been many strong friendships formed
within the club.
Come along and try us out, everyone
is entitled to 2 free trial lessons, where you will be able to
decide whether karate is right for you.
